Wisdom Teeth Extraction
Our goal is always to protect your natural teeth, but there are times when extraction is the best way to keep your smile healthy. If a tooth extraction is necessary, your dentist will discuss sedation with you to ensure your comfort throughout the procedure. Wisdom teeth are additional molars that typically erupt in your late teens or early twenties. If an X-ray shows that you have wisdom teeth on the way and no room for them in your mouth, we may recommend extraction to prevent damage to your other teeth. If they are allowed to erupt and there isn’t adequate room, the teeth can become impacted (and infected), or can cause crowding and cause misalignment. Often, extraction is the best way to protect your teeth and keep your smile healthy.
Impacted Canine Exposure
Canine teeth are particularly susceptible to becoming impacted – meaning they don’t fully erupt through the gum tissue. Impaction causes pain, but can also interfere with the eruption of nearby teeth, cause cysts to form, or cause an infection. We can surgically expose the impacted tooth to help guide it into the right position in your jaw. If this treatment is necessary for you, we’ll walk you through the entire procedure and provide sedation to keep you comfortable.
This procedure prepares your mouth and jaw for the placement of a complete or partial denture. In order to ensure proper fit of the denture, we need to remove any bone or hard tissue that extends too far, as well as smooth out the surface so the denture fits snug and comfortably. Pre-prosthetic surgery includes removal of excess bone or gum tissue, reduction of bone ridge, and bone leveling or reshaping. Sedation is provided during the procedure.
