Routine Exams

Biannual exams and cleanings are important to your health. At your appointment, we will perform a thorough examination and take X-rays to look for any signs of gum disease, tooth decay, cavities, or any other issues unable to be seen by the naked eye. We use state-of-the-art technology to ensure you receive nothing but the best care when you’re with us. You can rest assured that your smile is in great hands when you choose Signature Smiles Dental, where we prioritize you, your comfort, and your oral health.

Biannual Cleanings

After we’ve completed the exam portion of your visit, one of our talented dental hygienists will perform a full-mouth cleaning. The in-depth process begins with removing any plaque, food, or tartar buildup in the hard-to-reach spaces between your teeth. This is done using a variety of our advanced dental instruments that aid us in providing you with nothing but the best. We’ll then meticulously clean along and under the gumline to stave off potential risks of gum disease. Patients recognize the next part of the cleaning—the polishing—from the use of the “gritty toothpaste.” This mixture of pumice, fluoride, and flavoring helps smooth the surface of the teeth and rid the enamel of some light stains and other minor imperfections in which gingivitis-causing bacteria and plaque can accumulate. In some cases, we will administer a fluoride treatment at the end of your appointment to strengthen the enamel, but this is not necessary for all of our patients.

What You Can Do at Home

Another important factor in your oral health aside from routine exams and cleanings is your at-home dental care. Be sure that you follow the brushing and flossing tips recommended by our team—brush twice a day for two minutes each time and floss once a day. Other steps for a happy, healthy smile include implementing a fluoride-based, alcohol-free mouthwash into your routine and avoiding foods and drinks that are high in sugar or acid.
