Sedation Dentist in Streetsboro and Elyria
Dental anxiety – nervousness about going to the dentist or even avoidance of the dentist altogether – is something many people suffer from. We understand the importance of helping you feel comfortable while you get the care you need, so we offer a number of sedation options for patients undergoing just about any treatment we offer.
Painless Dentistry with DentalVibe®
We use the revolutionary DentalVibe to reduce and even eliminate the pain you experience with numbing injections. First, a topical numbing gel is applied to the area that requires anesthetic. We then use the DentalVibe to administer a warmed anesthetic shot. The DentalVibe uses ultrasonic vibrations that travel to the brain more quickly than pain sensations, basically blocking the painful feeling of the injection.
This sweet-smelling gas is also known as laughing gas. When inhaled through a mask over the nose and mouth, it creates a feeling of extreme relaxation. Once your appointment is over, simply breathing normal air for a few minutes completely reverses the effects of the nitrous oxide.
Oral Conscious Sedation
Patients with moderate to severe dental anxiety may benefit from the effects of oral conscious sedation. Your dentist will carefully prescribe a pill for you to take shortly before your scheduled appointment. By the time you’re in the dental chair and our team gets to work, you’ll feel completely relaxed. You’ll also be awake and aware enough to answer any questions we may have. We require that patients using oral conscious sedation have someone drive them to and from their appointment.
For extensive procedures such as wisdom teeth removal, we offer IV sedation to keep patients comfortable. Our trained team carefully monitors patients’ sedation throughout the procedure to ensure the proper amount of anesthesia is being administered at all time. Patients undergoing procedures that require IV sedation must fast for 8 hours prior to their procedure, and they must have someone drive them to and from their appointment.
